Youropa Direct Download
When Youropa is torn apart, you must walk the walls in a strange fragmented city, in order to restore it and learn who you really are. A platform puzzle paint adventure about breaking rules, being upside down and thinking outside the box. Walk upside down, on walls, in fact walk anywhere you can get to. Your suction cup feet let’s you stick to any surface. You will unlock new abilities, encounter physical puzzles, secrets, ferocious enemies, paint your character and much more, in an abstract but logical universe that challenges your perception of the third dimension. In Create Mode you can build your own levels while playing them. And you can share your levels and character designs with other players. Youropa is made with passion by a small group of friends over a period of 15 years. YOUropa is an excellent 3D puzzle platformer with clever level & puzzle design that uses the surface-walking M. C. Escher ability well. At first, you are only able to traverse (stick) on surfaces that are flat and rounded. New mechanics (jumping, running, interacting with objects, etc.) are introduced after completing levels that contain electrical wires that power up a gravity like portal.
Levels do get progressively harder as you combine these newly learned abilities but never frustrating. One ability in particular is very helpful as it lets you zoom out the camera to look around the level to find a walkable path to the next objective or to hidden items. There are many hidden items & task that can be done to unlock additional achievements. The paint on your character serves as a health indication where falling off the map, getting wet and taking damage from an enemy slowly removes the paint until there is no more. Very polished, fun game. Be warned though, it does get very difficult. Endlessly dying and restarting a level soon gets boring. With no level skip, you have to persevere or give up. The puzzle aspect is good, moving around not always easy. I do not see myself completing this game. I do not have the keyboard/mouse skills required or the endless patience. I doubt more than 10% of players ever reach the end. For me a good game made to difficult..
Really innovative mechanics, lovely characterisation, and brilliant skill progression that teaches you more about how you can control your little avatar. Gradually unlocking new abilities is really rewarding, and makes the backtracking worthwhile because you can now reach bonuses that were inaccessible without them. The game isn’t huge. I played with the kids, so we took a leisurely 20 hours. I think a speedrunner could finish it in under 3 hours if you knew what to do. On average, I’d say it’d take the average player about 12 to 14 hours to complete. The game has a few little bugs here and there which are always resolved by quitting and reloading. Progress is (usually) saved regularly, so you can just pop out and back in again if a box isn’t spawning where it should be. I got the occasional crash on one or two levels when I spammed the mouse button. Taking my time and letting the scripted UI actions complete always resolved them.
