About The Game
The Ramp captures the unparalleled feeling of real life vert skateboarding and that’s pretty much it. There is a lot this game doesn’t feature. What it offers you are the 15 minutes of flow that make a boring day great, at the price of a medium sized cinnamon pistachio latte to go.Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have feedback, questions or problems with the game. I’ll do my best to get back to you as quickly as possible. Also let me know if you enjoyed The Ramp, because that really makes my day. The Ramp achieves exactly what it promises: a simple experience that scratches that skateboarding itch. The ease of use and minimal effort required to drop in and execute some tricks is a real testament to excellent game design. If you have a core mechanic which is designed well and works, you don’t need the extra fluff. As you’d expect, the minimalist approach to this game also impacts the sound design and music. A simple lo-fi track plays in the background if you want. Or you can listen to the sweet sounds of wheels along the curve of a bowl, interspersed with the sounds when you make contact with the lip of the ramp. The developer has crafted a simple masterpiece which allows players to turn off their brains and shred. I would highly recommend.
Love the skate physics. Controls took me a second until I started thinking of the jumping/landing more in terms of momentum/weight, which was fun to grow comfortable with. I love how compact all the levels feel, like every detail down to the pool ladder has been play tested into polish. On the note of the pool ladder, it adds a nice touch of sound design if you wipe out on it. Sometimes I felt like the chill lo-fi music was fading out in sequence with my grinding, which I enjoyed. Overall, the sound design compliments everything quite nicely. I’m still working on the achievement to land a 1080 outside of the final level, but otherwise all the little challenges feel ‘just right’ for what you’d want to work on throughout a game of this size/scope. I know I’ll feel satisfied when I unlock that final 1080. this game definetly keeps what it promises and is worth the price its being offered for. The content is very well polished and the final product is a cool toy to play around with. like the developer said this isnt a full game, but rather a small toy to play around with. The controls are very easy to learn and i would love to see some more levels to the game. The visual style really gets across what the game is going for too! And as someone who has never skateboarded before, it also gave me some basic insight on how movement and tricks work that I feel like “big” skating games always fail to focus on. and like i think some other comment already said, this kind of wants me to start skating myself.
Despite playing this game for 15 minutes, this masterpiece is flowing with creativity. It is pretty fun for a small little project a guy made. The soundtrack is pretty good as well. Of course you can listen to other music while playing, but the soundtrack (2-3 songs) is pretty good and doesn’t get old (so far). I feel like the cost of the game could’ve been brought down a little bit, but hey, it’s a good enough price for a small game. This game is a good game to chill out to. If you’re stressed or have little time and want to play something, this is the game for you. I felt like I had to get this review up early because I feel like I won’t be heard as well with a ton of other reviews. I can’t wait to see more games/projects from this guy. To start off, this game is a very chill game and I like how you can just skate without doing any quests or nothing. I love this game and have done tons of tricks. As the game has been very recently released, I will not push it or anything, but I suggest to the developer of this game that you should add more tricks like kickflips and traditional skateboarding tricks. This game is really fun and I highly recommend that you buy it. They never said you could buy fun but with this game you can! Big fun for little price!
